Frybread Face and Me (2023) is a coming-of-age film written and directed by Billy Luther (Diné, Hopi, Laguna Pueblo). Set in 1990, the film follows Benny, an 11-year-old boy from San Diego who is used to urban life and pop culture. He is sent to spend the summer on the Navajo reservation in Arizona with his traditional grandmother. There, he bonds with his precocious cousin, Dawn—whom they call, "Frybread Face," and learns about his family's history, traditions, and cultural heritage. Be ready to laugh and cry throughout this heartwarming film!
Come enjoy frybread and vegan three sisters stew!
