The Los Rios Community College District has begun its search for a new Chancellor, with Chancellor Brian King having announced that he will retire from the district at the end of the 2025-26 academic year.
The Los Rios Board of Trustees is committed to working closely with the entire Los Rios community to recruit a deep pool of diverse and talented candidates for our next Chancellor, and ultimately select a new Chancellor who personifies the excellence of the Los Rios Community College District and who will be a fierce champion for our students, faculty, staff, and community.

The new chancellor will focus on varied opportunities to pursue growth and improvement on behalf of the district over the next five to seven years. Among those are the following:
- As a community college district with a large and diverse geographical footprint, Los Rios CCD will continue to empower its four colleges and the District Office to work as an integrated system that operates cooperatively, efficiently, and effectively in serving a diverse service area and student population with a particular emphasis on increasing services to populations traditionally underserved.
- The district will continue to be a leader among the California community colleges in improving student achievement rates and reducing student equity gaps. This will include leading an ongoing and all-inclusive dialogue on fostering a culture of equity, inclusion, and anti-racism districtwide.
- The district and colleges' educational plans and strategic plans will continue to provide the vision for integrated instruction and student support services to support students with diverse educational goals, including transfer, career technical education, dual enrollment, and general education.
- Los Rios CCD will continue to work to strengthen personnel and institutional effectiveness to achieve and sustain excellence as measured by student outcomes and organizational climate.
- Maintain, sustain, and support mutually beneficial relationships with the communities in the district to improve the social and economic well-being of the region.
- The district will continue to make every effort to maintain safe and healthy learning and work environments for faculty, staff, and students.
- In light of the student-centered funding formula for California Community Colleges, Los Rios CCD will continue to act effectively and creatively with the fiscal constraints and budget uncertainties associated with this evolving funding model.
- The Colleges and district-wide services will continue to focus on advancing and maintaining educational quality, access, and student success in light of the upcoming State Budget uncertainties. This will include continuing to address enrollment challenges by expanding outreach throughout the district service area to ensure the colleges are attracting, retaining, and effectively serving all students within the district.
- Provide support to the district colleges to develop and foster relationships with the region's K-16 partners to advance work around AB 1705, dual enrollment opportunities, and other pathways to improve access, retention, and completion for all students.
- Lead and engage in developing community support for the district through fundraising activities, such as capital/bond campaigns, as well as fostering relationships with corporate and industry partners.
- Prepare and lead the district to pursue a district-wide Bond election to provide new facilities to meet the district's current and future needs, and for upgrading and repairing existing facilities at the colleges and district operations. This includes assessing the most appropriate and optimal use of existing facilities in light of technology-driven changes in the teaching and learning environment.

About the Board
The Los Rios Board of Trustees is the governing body for the district. The board oversees our colleges' academic quality, facilities, and finances, and sets district policy in line with state and federal law.
Seven trustees are elected by voters to serve four-year terms. The board also includes a non-voting student trustee, elected by students each year.

Our Colleges
The four Los Rios colleges – American River College, Cosumnes River College, Folsom Lake College, and Sacramento City College – serve more than 80,000 students throughout the Sacramento region. Our colleges offer a wide array of engaging degree, transfer, and certificate programs to help students into careers they've always dreamed of.
American River College
American River College is the largest college in the Los Rios district. It is located on the northern edge of Sacramento and has four satellite campuses – the Mather Center, the Natomas Center, and the Regional Public Safety Training Center. Its mascot is Bucky the Beaver.
Cosumnes River College
Cosumnes River College (CRC) the third largest college in the Los Rios district. It is located on the southern edge of Sacramento and takes its name from the Cosumnes River, which flows just a few miles to the south. CRC has a satellite campus in Elk Grove, California. Its mascot is Hawkeye the Hawk.
Folsom Lake College
Folsom Lake College is the fourth largest college in the Los Rios district. It is located on the eastern edge of Sacramento County in Folsom and takes its name from Folsom Lake, which is just a few miles to the north. Folsom Lake College has two satellite campuses – the El Dorado Center and the Rancho Cordova Center. Its mascot is Falco the Falcon.
Sacramento City College
Sacramento City College is the second largest college in the Los Rios district. It is located south of downtown in Sacramento and has two satellite campuses – the Davis Center and the West Sacramento Center. Its mascot is the Panther.
