The student trustee is the student voice on the board of trustees.

The student trustee represents the interests of the entire community and provides perspective to ensure that future students will be well-served. In addition to serving on the board of trustees, the student trustee chairs the Student Advisory Committee, which provides a forum for communication and exchange of ideas, information, and concerns among students.

Mehdi Sougrati is honored to serve as the new Student Trustee of the Los Rios Community College District. A dedicated and passionate student, Mehdi aspires to represent the voices of all Los Rios students to the Board of Trustees with this esteemed position.

A nature enthusiast at heart, Mehdi finds joy and tranquility in the natural world. Whether hiking through scenic trails, exploring the great outdoors, or tending to a diverse collection of houseplants, Mehdi is committed to nurturing and preserving the environment. This love for nature not only provides a source of relaxation but also inspires a broader perspective on life and learning.

Academically, Mehdi is pursuing a pre-med track with a steadfast ambition to specialize in oncology. This dream, rooted in childhood aspirations, reflects a profound desire to make a difference in the lives of those affected by cancer. With a dedication to rigorous study and a compassionate approach to patient care, Mehdi aims to contribute significantly to the field of oncology and the well-being of future patients.

In addition to academic and environmental pursuits, Mehdi is an avid sports enthusiast. Whether playing on the field, supporting local teams, or engaging in community sports events, Mehdi understands the value of teamwork, perseverance, and a healthy, active lifestyle. This passion for sports complements Mehdi's holistic approach to personal and professional growth.
