Community Engagement
For decades, the Los Rios Community College District has helped local students reach their goals — providing affordable, high-quality higher education that keeps opportunity close to home. Together, our four colleges — American River, Cosumnes River, Folsom Lake, and Sacramento City — serve nearly 70,000 students each year, preparing them for university transfer and good-paying careers.
We’re working hard to maintain affordable higher education and ensure that our classrooms, labs, and facilities continue to meet the needs of students and employers in our region.
Like many districts across California, we face financial uncertainty as state and federal funding are at risk, and LRCCD could be facing millions of dollars in cuts over the next few years even as demand for high-quality, affordable higher education continues to grow. A recent community survey identified the following top priorities for LRCCD:
- Maintaining affordable higher education
- Better preparing students and workers for good-paying jobs
- Providing facilities for career training nurses, firefighters, and other first responders
- Maintaining career training for students and veterans
- Providing safe, clean drinking water
- Repairing leaky roofs
- Repairing gas, electrical, and sewer lines
The survey results made one thing clear: our community values affordable education, career training, and safe learning environments for students of all ages.
